"I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing."

Exodus

Exodus means "departure" (Heb 11:22). It continues the history of the descendants of Jacob's twelve sons. In the first chapter of Exodus, just two short verses (Ex 1:11-12) cover the time during which God said to Abraham: "Your descendants shall be strangers in a land that is not theirs, and shall serve them; and they shall afflict them four hundred years" (Ge 15:13; Ac 7:6). The book teaches us how God fulfilled his promises to Abraham as well as protected and provided for his people in the midst of great difficulties and fierce enemies.
